Computer Literacy in Bangladesh

The imperative to make a competent workforce in the IT industry points to the necessity of making computer education available to school students in villages. When the IT-trained or educated students will enter the job market after completion of their education, the country will have an army of skilled youths to meet the demand of our time. Improvement of education is a continuous process. Care needs to be taken to make policies realistic not idealistic.

In some private schools in the city, computer education has already been made compulsory up to o’ level. If the mainstream schools can be equipped with computers and trained teachers, even SSC qualified candidates may find their IT training at school very useful for earning a modest living. The connectivity that would be achieved in the process will help advance the country by several years at a single step. Only then will the dream of a digital Bangladesh come true. Probable solution: Massive ‘education’ and training programme to be launched with progressive minded Managers and workers after shedding the old-timers who spend their days by gossiping. If needed, employ fresh people with modern background who could operate computer and such present day’s technologies well.
